Our culture is rooted in our values, leadership accountability, and the growth and development of our Ambassadors.Based in Seattle, WA, the Director, People & Culture, Coast Hotels USA Inc., will oversee the People & Culture function for Coast Hotels USA Inc. and its operating hotels. In this role, the Director will drive the Engaged Ambassador - People & Culture strategy, supporting both short- and long-term business goals. As a strategic partner to senior leadership, they will ensure that people practices align with Coast Hotels' Mission, Vision, and Brand Promise, adhere to U.S. labor laws, and foster both Ambassador engagement and exceptional guest experiences.Responsibilities:Business Leadership

  • Advises the Senior Coast Hotels USA Inc. Leadership Team on strategies for the People & Culture function to enhance people practices and company-wide performance.
  • Solicits involvement of relevant Coast Hotels leaders to build strategic plans, ensuring leadership understanding and hotel buy-in.
  • Maintains industry and professional expertise by reviewing relevant communication and analysis reports, and builds an effective network within the industry and/or profession.
  • Advises on organizational change initiatives required to support business strategy; develops and communicates implementation plans.
  • Supports the development and clear articulation of the company Mission, Vision, and Brand Promise.
  • Makes decisions and forms strategies that consider the needs of different properties.Operational Leadership
    • Establishes clear engaged Ambassador plans, targets, and budgets to support operational excellence.
    • Monitors and measures plans and targets, identifying issues and proactively implementing solutions.
    • Advises on processes to ensure decisions and actions are followed through, specifically related to Organizational Effectiveness, Learning, Compensation, Benefits, Labour Relations, Occupational Health & Safety, and HR practices.
    • Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
    • Participates in collective bargaining processes with Unite Here Local 8.
    • Builds a strong People & Culture team through effective recruitment, mentoring, and development.
    • Implements recognition practices to reward excellence and alignment with Coast's Values & Leadership Accountability.
    • Sets performance standards to motivate Ambassadors, monitors team performance.
    • Communicates organizational people strategies clearly to all Ambassadors.
    • Supports and models Coast Hotels' Values & Leadership Accountability, fostering a positive culture.
    • Identifies succession needs, talent requirements, and develops key talent.
    • Implements improvement plans to achieve desired results.
    • Builds relationships through visibility, communication, collaboration, and involvement.Guest & Community Leadership
      • Advises on evolving guest needs to ensure exceptional service.
      • Develops community involvement plans to enhance reputation and engagement.
      • Embodies Coast Hotels' values and promotes a positive community image.
      • Performs other duties as required.Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
        • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and education.
        • At least 10 years of progressive HR experience, including 5 years in leadership and 3 in senior leadership roles.
        • SHRM designation or equivalent.
        • Ability to influence senior decision-makers.
        • Experience designing and maintaining people-centered programs aligned with organizational goals.
        • Understanding of organizational dynamics and proactive outcome anticipation.
        • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
        • Excellent organizational and management skills for company-wide initiatives.
        • Knowledge of industry best practices and operations.
