Swedish is looking for a Pharmacy Technician (Per Diem, Variable
Shift) in the Pharmacy Department at Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds,
Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and
distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and
maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under
the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform
duties that can legally be performed only by a registered
In this position you will:
Procure and distribute medication orders per physician request,
pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to
established policies, procedures, and protocols:
Fill physician orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts,
or stock requisitions accurately.
Replenish medications in emergency crash carts, floor stock and
automated dispensing machines accurately.
Prepare intravenous admixtures or other sterile products (including
chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) accurately.
Deliver medication and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas
accurately per established schedule.
Maintain adequate stock of medication and supplies according to
established policies and procedures.
Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing
pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.
Rotate stock to ensure use before expiration date.
Identify and replace outdated and unusable drugs.
Restock medication and IV dispensing areas.
Prepackage bulk medications in unit dose packages.
Contribute to the effective operation of the department
Pick up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from
patient care areas when on delivery rounds.
Enter medication orders into pharmacy computer system
Generate reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
Answer the telephone, identifying self and department. Direct calls
to appropriate personnel.
Answer requests at the window and make stat deliveries to patient
carea areas when requested.
Organize and prioritizes work assignments.
Maintain logs, records, and other required documentation
accurately. File documentation in appropriate locations.
Demonstrate good oral and written communication.
Keep pharmacy areas clean, neat and well-organized. Keeps pharmacy
Participate in the quality improvement activities of the

Required qualifications for this position include:
Current Washington state Pharmacy Technician license
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
College courses desirable
Two (2) years experience as a Pharmacy technician experience
