Job Description:

The Mission of Seattle Children's Acute Care Pediatric APP fellowship's is to support newly graduated APPs to successfully enter their practice in a complex, highly collaborative pediatric setting. The APP fellowship is a 12-month limited term position which includes precepted clinical practice, multidisciplinary, comprehensive didactics, and simulation training.Seattle Children's has a diverse and often complex patient population across the healthcare continuum. Our APP fellowship is essential to our commitment to train the next generation of caregivers to meet the needs of our patient population.Fellowship Training Goals Include

  • Provide direct care and assume increasing responsibility for clinical management of patients in all settings within a pediatric tertiary care center
  • Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans within the multidisciplinary team of a pediatric hospital
  • Four to five months of inpatient services with remainder of fellowship year spent in specialty rotations
  • Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team
  • Exposure to the APP role in contributing to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects
  • Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis up to 12 months in advance of a cohort start date.     • Your application will not be considered without submission of these itemsFellow-Nurse PractitionerMaster's degree or higher in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program.One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.Acute Care Pediatric Nursing Experience Strongly Preferred.Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner.Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children's Hospital.Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment. All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's. Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies. Questions regarding medical or allied health professional staff privileges may be directed to Medical Staff Services.Fellow - Physician AssistantGraduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.One year work experience in a healthcare role, preferably with a strong pediatric component..Active, unencumbered Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Washington.Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.Basic Life Support (BLS).Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children's Hospital.Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment. All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's; for this term limited position, the Fellow's privileges will terminate with the pre-determined end of the position, as noted in the offer letter from Human Resources. If a permanent position is offered and accepted, the application for privileges will be processed as a reappointment to the medical staff.Compensation Range$126,821 per year*This position is eligible for relocation for qualified candidates.*Salary InformationThis compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year).
