Job Description Job Description Dermatology - Physician - Academic Role Overview This full-time academic position involves delivering comprehensive dermatological services, which encompass both outpatient and inpatient care, dermatologic surgery, and tele-dermatology within our healthcare system. The dermatologist will also engage in the education and training of medical residents and students in partnership with a prominent university's Department of Medicine. This role comes with a competitive salary, extensive federal benefits, and the opportunity to support veteran patient care in a high-complexity referral medical center. We are actively seeking a full-time Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Dermatologist to provide care for our veterans, who are our nation's heroes. The chosen candidate will be appointed to the full-time faculty at the university at the rank of Acting, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on their experience. We are looking for a Board-Certified Staff Dermatologist (Board Eligibility may be considered) to deliver comprehensive outpatient and inpatient dermatologic services, including patch testing, specialized and general dermatologic surgery, general dermatology, and store-and-forward tele-dermatology. Dermatopathology sign-out may be available for fellowship-trained candidates. The role includes training dermatology residents as well as potentially internal medicine, family medicine, and medical student trainees. Collaboration with primary care providers and offering dermatology training as needed will also be part of the responsibilities. Our facility is a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1a/high complexity, 459-bed center serving veterans in the Pacific Northwest. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday (evening or weekend shifts may be required as part of a 24/7 full-time physician role). A compressed work schedule may be an option. Must be a U.S. Citizen – Non-U.S. Citizens may be considered. Possess a current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S. Board Certification in Dermatology is preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be accepted. Community Overview Our healthcare system, with divisions in Tacoma and Seattle, is the largest and most comprehensive VA facility in the Pacific Northwest. It serves as a major referral center for veterans from Alaska, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Veterans are referred to our nationally recognized centers for spinal cord injury, marrow transplant, deployment health, radiation therapy, rehabilitation, prosthetics, mental health research, and more. Additional outpatient clinics provide primary, specialty, and mental health care across both divisions. Furthermore, we manage several Community Based Outpatient Clinics in western Washington to enhance access to primary care for veterans, with plans for an additional clinic in the South Sound area. Our Mobile Medical Unit also visits rural communities monthly. Affiliated with a major university and over 50 nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, social work, and psychology schools, we train more than 1,590 allied health care professionals annually in various fields. Our healthcare system receives over $33 million in funding, which supports our competitive edge in world-class research across multiple health areas. We are also a polytrauma network site, providing lifelong rehabilitation and care coordination for veterans injured in combat. Benefits and Features The anticipated salary range for a qualified Board-Certified Dermatologist will be between $300,000.00 and $400,000.00, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package designed to support a high-quality professional practice and a favorable work-life balance. Our organization provides a robust benefits package, allowing more focus on medical practice rather than administrative tasks. Benefits include: 26 days of paid annual leave, 13 days of paid sick leave, 11 federal holidays with pay, and 5 days of paid absence for approved CME courses. Insurance options include health, dental, and vision coverage, with partial premium payment by the organization; flexible spending accounts; term life insurance with family and additional coverage options; and long-term care insurance.
