Job Description:
As the Sr. Manager, TPM in the ProdOps Organization, this role
leads the Operations Program Management (OPM) team in establishing
and scaling and sustaining the LEO Production System (LPS). As the
architect of the LEO Production System (LPS), this position leads
the transformation of LEO's manufacturing operations from initial
production (LRIP) to full rate production and efficiency. The
role's primary impact extends beyond traditional program
management, serving as the driving force behind establishing
best-in-class manufacturing facilities that balance quality,
efficiency, and scalability. The OPM team serves as a central
pillar of LPS alongside Value Stream Leaders (VSL) and Production
Managers, driving standardization and continuous improvement across
manufacturing operations. This position uniquely combines strategic
leadership with hands-on manufacturing expertise and problem
solving, requiring the ability to identify and implement scalable
solutions while maintaining production quality and efficiency. Core
ownership spans three critical dimensions of LEO's manufacturing
operations. First, the role owns the design and implementation of
LPS, a comprehensive operating model which establishes the
fundamental building blocks of satellite manufacturing excellence
for LEO. This includes developing and implementing tiered
mechanisms, establishing KPIs across multiple facilities, creating
standardized work practices for 100 production teams, and
implementing real-time production monitoring systems. Second, the
position supports each VSL with program management functions;
developing roadmaps to enable VSL to deliver their goals while
making the right trade-offs across resources, coordinating across
300 salaried and 1,100 hourly manufacturing FTEs while aligning
with 2,000 FTEs in supporting organizations. Third, the role leads
implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that amplify
clusters of excellence across manufacturing (implementation of
processes, adoptions of new technologies, scaling people
development) and drive operational excellence through data-driven
decision making. Key job responsibilities The OPM team's central
positioning enables it to drive accountability across manufacturing
Value Streams while rapidly scaling solutions across production
areas. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and implementing
roadmaps that support VSL goals. • Establishing and managing KPIs
for safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across VSLs •
Driving implementation of continuous improvement processes and
technology initiatives across manufacturing operations • Providing
comprehensive support for tiered mechanisms, process documentation,
and reporting • Proactively leading RCA and problem-solving
activities that are risks to productions, The role directly
influences key metrics that define LEO's manufacturing success,
including production rate achievement, quality (DPU, FPY), cycle
time optimization, and labor efficiency (hour to planned rate).
Through implementation of LPS and lean principles and mechanisms,
the position impacts critical business metrics including P&L
performance. This role will own and drive a portfolio of roadmaps
at the VSL level that collectively exceed $100M annual value to the
business by reducing Total Cost per Satellite (TCPU) by improving
manufacturing yield rates, and overall productivity. A day in the
life Among the most challenging problems this role must solve is
the establishment of standardized, repeatable processes in a highly
dynamic manufacturing environment. This includes developing
mechanisms to reduce variation across production, implementing
metrics and tools that enable proactive problem identification, and
advocating for scalable processes that support increased production
volumes while maintaining quality standards. The role must also
solve complex organizational challenges, coordinating across
multiple VP organizations to align priorities and resources while
maintaining focused execution on immediate production needs. This
position requires proven ability to influence organization
priorities and technology direction while managing cross-functional
communication to ensure all stakeholders are aligned. Success
demands balancing strategic vision with tactical excellence,
driving standardization while maintaining flexibility to address
emerging challenges in LEO's dynamic manufacturing environment. The
position's success ultimately enables LEO to achieve its ambitious
production targets while maintaining the highest standards of
quality and efficiency. Through the successful implementation of
LPS and associated mechanisms, this role ensures that LEO's
manufacturing operations can scale effectively while continuously
improving performance and reducing waste. The impact extends beyond
tactical process implementation to shaping LEO's manufacturing
culture, ensuring that principles of operational excellence,
continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making become
embedded in daily operations. This role requires exceptional
strategic thinking balanced with tactical execution capabilities,
deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, and proven
ability to drive change across multiple stakeholder groups. Success
demands the ability to navigate complex technical and
organizational challenges while maintaining unwavering focus on
LEO's mission to provide world-class satellite communication
services through efficient, scalable manufacturing operations.
About the team The OPM team endeavors to define the Leo Production
System where there is a focus on a structured approach to reduce
process variation, improve efficiency, enable effective problem
solving, and drive performance with Plan-Do-Check-Act process. This
will be defined across three pillars; Standardization,
Implementation, and Adoption. - Bachelor's degree in Engineering
(Industrial or Mechanical), Operations Research, or related fields
- MBA, or 7 years of professional or military experience - 8 years
of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience - 5 years
