Description Swedish Medical Center is calling for an Security
Officer I (0.9 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Edmonds at Swedish
Medical Center in Edmonds, WA. Applicants that meet qualifications
will receive a text with some additional questions from our Modern
Hire system. At Swedish, we are passionate about healthcare for our
caregivers. Full-time caregivers (0.75-1.0 FTE) who earn less than
$60,000 per year will be offered the Swedish PPO Medical Plan with
a $0 premium cost, including dependent coverage. The Security
Officer I provides a safe and secure environment for the patients,
visitors, staff and property of Swedish Medical Center/Swedish
Edmonds. Due to the continuous public contact of the position the
highest level of customer service skills is essential. Security
Officers conduct random patrols of Swedish Medical Center/Swedish
Edmond property, respond to and investigate security incidents,
report safety hazards, and appropriately document actions and
observations made during the shift. Security Officers respond to
alarms and codes by providing traffic control and assisting with
safe patient handling. Security Officers conduct routine safety
walks of the facilities and submits remedial requests for any
concerns they identify. Security Officers routinely engage in
stressful situations and at times may be required to use physical
force to maintain the safety of the patient care environment, and
also may be required to run, climb stairs, carry people, or perform
other physical acts in response to emergent situations. Security
Officers will provide advice to clinical staff regarding matters of
patient release and restraint. Security Officers also engage in a
wide range of customer service activities involving direct contact
with patients and visitors, providing directions and helping people
find their way. Security Officers regularly use computers to write
reports and logs and to monitor security cameras and access control
systems. Will be required to work on multiple campuses based on
staffing needs or the needs of the department. * Remain observant
and alert at all times. * Reports all incidents and hazards
appropriately in written reports and in passing information between
shifts. Notifies supervisor and/or lead of any significant
incidents that might impact department or hospital operations as
soon as possible. Completes required documentation in a timely
manner. * Demonstrates the highest standard of calm and
professional customer service and provides the highest degree of
assistance in responding to the needs of patients, visitors and
staff. * Works independently and resolves problems appropriately. *
Thinks quickly and formulates an effective plan for dealing with
unexpected situations. Is able to de-escalate potentially dangerous
situations. * Respects patient confidentiality and the
confidentiality and sensitivity of information related to security
incidents and hospital business. * Completes security incident
reports and shift logs by the end of the shift. Security reports
are complete, clear and concise and use proper punctuation,
spelling and grammar. * Responds to security calls without
hesitation and is able to act with authority at incident scenes. Is
able to effectively maintain physical control of patients,
suspects, trespassers or others who present a threat to people or
property. * Maintains contact with other security officers, and is
aware of the general location of the other officers on the shift at
all times. * Completes tasks and special projects as assigned. *
Maintains vehicular access to urgent care areas through traffic
control or coordination with parking enforcement. * Assists
visitors, patients and staff with directions and information.
Assists patients and visitors in and out of their vehicles and with
wheelchairs as needed. * Responds to automatic alarm systems and
works with building engineers. * Communicates clearly in speech and
in writing. Uses time effectively to complete assignments and
written reports. * Effectively uses computer systems and security
technologies such as access control and camera systems. Checks
Swedish email at least once a day. Required qualifications:
